Mission Viejo
It was named the safest city in the United States in a 2007 Morgan Quitno crime statistic survey (compiled from FBI data). Mission Viejo is considered one of the largest master-planned communities ever built under a single project in the United States. As of the January 1, 2009, the city had a total population of 100,242.[1] Built in 1974, Lake Mission Viejo is stocked with fish – trout, bass, sunfish and minnows. They picked those fish because they make up a food chain. You can fish from boats or off the shore and there are two swimming beaches and you can rent kayaks (my favorite), rowboats and other kinds of boats. It looks like the lake has always been there. The lake is enormous for a manmade lake – 124 acres. You’d walk 3.8 miles if you followed the shoreline all around it. It holds almost 2 billion gallons of water. Mission Viejo is suburban in nature and culture. The city is mainly residential, although there are a number of offices and businesses within its city limits. The city is planned and features a very large number of single-family homes, some condominiums, a two-year community college, and a regional mall, The Shops at Mission Viejo.
